20 Wildly Effective Laundry Products That’ll Make You Wonder How Your Clothes Ever Survived Without Them
Want to know what laundry products you should be using and which ones you should pass up? Here are the best laundry products that feel like a cheat code for adulting.

The kind of laundry products you use matters SO SO much! And I wish someone would have told me that sooner, because I thought laundry preference was more so based on what scent smelled the best. 🤦♀️
Which don’t get me wrong, is important, but there are also some other factors to consider when choosing your ride or die laundry products – especially since they can make or break the way your clothes look and how long they last.
So if you’re someone who doesn’t know which products are actually worth it (and do what they say they’re going to do), or you’re just looking for some new recommendations to take your laundry to the next level, you’re in the right place!
You know how you can just tell someone knows exactly what they’re doing in the laundry room based off of how good their clothing looks and smells? Well 90% of that is the products they’re using.
So take out a notepad or open the notes app on your phone, because you’re going to want to keep track of these laundry saviors!
This post is about the best laundry products that will make your clothes smell and look like you have your life together.
The Best Laundry Products:
1. Liquid Laundry Detergent
This laundry detergent smells absolutely heavenly! I have yet to find a laundry detergent that can top this scent – especially one that actually lasts and leaves your clothes smelling fresh beyond a day or two.
I reserve this detergent specifically for my clothes, since it’s a tad more expensive than your average laundry detergent. But a little goes a long way, and one container of this detergent should last you a while, so it’s not hard to justify.
It’s also non-toxic, which isn’t 100% necessary, but you really don’t want the clothes you wear to be washed and soaked in any toxic chemicals.
2. Wool Dryer Balls
Wool dryer balls are one of those laundry products that you don’t really see how big of a difference they make until you start using them yourself. Your clothes, bedding, towels, and everything that comes out of the dryer is just way fluffier and softer when you throw these wool balls in there.
You can also add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to these dryer balls to make your fabrics smell extra fresh and luxurious!
3. Pet Hair Lint Rollers
If you have pets, you know the struggle of finding hair on quite literally EVERYTHING! Sometimes I don’t even know how pet hair ends up where it does, but it makes a point of staying on your fabrics and making it look like you don’t have clean clothes, even if you just washed them.
The best way I’ve found to quickly get rid of pet hair on my clothes is with a lint roller. I’ve tried other products that have claimed to do an amazing job at getting rid of pet hair, but always go back to a lint roller since they’re so effective and affordable compared to a lot of other options.
I keep a couple of these scattered around the house – one in the laundry room, one by the front door, one in my closet, etc. just to make my life easier.
4. Mesh Laundry Bags
You don’t want to risk your intimates getting thrashed in the washer and dryer. Even if you change the cycle to delicates, they still get caught on things super easily. And if they don’t rip, they end up tangled in a wet bunch with your other clothes.
It’s just not worth the risk, and it’s so easy to just put your bras and undies in their own little mesh bags so you don’t have to worry about them.
5. Scent Booster
A scent booster is not absolutely necessary, but it does make your clothes smell incredibly good – like to the point where people will ask you what perfume you’re wearing when it’s really just your clothes.
And I don’t know about you, but I’ve tried scent boosters in the past that have irritated my skin. But I’ve been using this one for over a year now and haven’t had any problems with it irritating my skin.
6. Laundry Stain Brushes
Laundry stain brushes kind of seem like a weird concept, almost like using a toothbrush to treat stains, but it actually works! Now these brushes are better for spot stains and furniture fabric than say a food stain that takes up a quarter of your shirt.
And when I say these brushes are good for stains, I’m talking about the super stubborn ones (coffee, grease, sweat, etc.) that cause you to panic. Each brush head is also made of a different material, so there are softer ones for more delicate pieces and tougher bristles for heavier fabrics.
When it comes to laundry, you’re almost always better off going in with something (natural) like this before you pull out the heavy duty stain remover that could turn your clothes a different color or make them fade.
7. Hand Held Fabric Steamer
I know it can be annoying to steam your clothes, but the last thing you want to do is walk out of the house with wrinkles in your clothing. Even if it’s not your fault, it makes it look like your clothes were wadded up on the floor before you put them on.
And I know what you’re thinking, “Why can’t I just stick my clothes in the dryer on high heat?” And while you can use this trick on a fair bit of clothing, there are a lot of nicer items that you don’t want to throw in the dryer; items that are a little more delicate and can easily be ruined under the wrong conditions.
I would say, either have an iron or a steamer, whichever one works best for you. Though, I feel like a steamer is a lot quicker and easier to use, but that might also be personal preference.
8. Heavy Duty Clothes Pins
When it comes to hanging up your clothes to dry, you’re going to want to make sure you have heavy duty clothes pins! Otherwise, when it comes to items like jeans that are heavier, you’ll find them on the floor next time you come into the laundry room.
9. Laundry Essential Oil
This essential oil is specifically for your laundry – like putting a few drops on the wool dryer balls we were talking about earlier. It’s a nice little natural boost of fragrance that will take your laundry game to the next level.
Of course you want to choose a scent that you enjoy the smell of, but also one that you won’t get tired of smelling on your clothes – something subtle that’ll also layer nicely on top of your body lotion of perfume scent.
10. Bra Wash Bags
These wash bags are specifically meant for bras, to keep them in place, even when the bag itself is rolling around the washer and dryer.
I’ve also found that if you try to stuff too much into normal washer bags, the items inside don’t get cleaned as well, so the smaller size is a good way to make sure there isn’t an item that doesn’t get thoroughly washed and rinsed.
Pro Tip: Don’t put your bras in the dryer! I know it can be tempting because it’s so darn convenient, but putting them in the dryer will wear them down a lot quicker than if you were to let them air dry.
11. Pure Borax
Borax will be your new laundry side kick. I actually questioned why I didn’t start using this sooner, and not just for laundry. Turns out borax is super helpful for whitening and brightening clothes (laundry savior), as well as a heavy-duty cleaner for fighting tough stains, and a deodorizer.
Whenever I am doing a load of whites, or have laundry that’s a little extra stinky, I’ll put a scoop of borax in with my load. This is something that is just always helpful to have on hand!
12. Wool and Delicates Laundry Detergent
I’m not going to lie, I only recently discovered that cashmere and wool shouldn’t be washed with your average laundry detergent.
Which, now that I’m thinking about it, I guess it makes sense considering how delicate they are, but it’s just not something people really talk about so you just don’t know what you don’t know.
But nonetheless, if you want your cashmere and wool items to stay nice, you need to treat them right. And that starts with the detergent you use to clean them. Also make sure you’re hand washing them. 😉
13. Laundry Sheets
These sheets are the equivalent of a liquid or pod laundry detergent.
I have a pack of these for travel since I’m pretty particular about what detergent I’m using (and it just makes life easier if you bring your own), but you can also use them on the regular if you don’t want the hassle or mess that comes with a lot of liquid detergents.
I will give them props for being super convenient!
14. Laundry Detergent
Okay so you know how I was talking about how much I loved the first laundry detergent on the list, but I only used it for my clothes? Well, this is what I use on everything else. I’m not as picky when it comes to what I’m washing my towels or rags with, so I’ll use a detergent like this that comes in a big bottle and lasts FOREVER.
Not to worry, it also passes the scent check (mandatory for any laundry product).
15. Classic Fabric Spray
A good fabric spray will make your life so much easier in between washes! Easier in the way that your clothes and even cushioned furniture will smell super fresh. Sometimes your clothes just need a little spritz before you wear them out – and that’s where this spray comes in.
It also works well as a wrinkle release spray which is a life savor when you’re running out the door and don’t have time to break out the steamer.
16. Retractable Clothes Line
I am someone who likes their laundry room to stay as neat and clean as possible. Which means having a clothing line or rack sitting out in the open 24/7 is no bueno.
This clothes line is actually retractable so you can bring it out when you need to let your clothes air dry, but immediately retract it when you’re not using it. I always love items that useful but also keep your home from looking more cluttered than it needs to be.
17. Nontoxic Laundry Boosters
A laundry booster is not something you need to incorporate in every wash cycle. But when you’re washing gym clothes or any items that could use a little extra TLC, adding a scoop of this will make them look and smell brand new.
It’ll also save you from going through the extra effort of individually spraying and treating stained clothes (as long as you put them in the wash ASAP). I can’t deny it, I’m a sucker for products that make my life easier. But can you really blame me? 🤷♀️
18. Rechargeable Fabric Shaver
You know how you have those sweaters that you avoid wearing because they pill a lot? Well same. I finally just decided to get a fabric shaver because I thought if it could revive some of my favorite sweaters and make them look brand new, it would be worth it. I think it’s pretty safe to say that it gets the job done!
I also recently started using it on furniture, and so far so good. It’s also pretty satisfying to use. 🤭
19. Laundry Stain Treatment
This and the stain remover brushes are an unbeatable combo! The key is to treat your clothes right away if you can help it. Which, I know is easier said than done, but it really does make a difference.
And I kid you not, you only need a drop or two to treat decent sized stains, so a single bottle will last you a VERY long time. Just one less product you have to think about repurchasing on the regular.
20. Laundry Whitener
I am someone who likes to use natural or at least non-toxic products where I can. But sometimes, this products just don’t work the same, and you need the heavy duty stuff to get the job done.
Laundry whitener is kind of one of those areas. Especially since you want your whites to actually stay white through the years and not look faded or yellowy white.
