More About Me… And How it All Began

Back in 2020, I was determined to get a job that could work around my busy school schedule and allow me to earn some money on the side (keep in mind… I was 15 at the time). I’ve always had the entrepreneurial spirit in me (thanks Dad!) and I knew I didn’t just want a conventional part-time job at a local restaurant or clothing store. So what did I do? I took my curiosity to the internet and started searching for how I could make this little dream of mine work.

After coming across your typical online jobs, I found myself on a blog. And after doing a deep dive (some might consider stalking haha) and reading how this blogger built her online empire of loyal readers and a thriving community that allowed her to be her own boss, create her own hours to work around her busy schedule, and do something she was passionate about, I knew I wanted to do the same.

So after gathering up all of my birthday and Christmas money I had saved up, I launched BMG (By Mable Grace) – a blog dedicated to all things home. Even though I knew almost nothing about what it took to run a successful business and actually start a blog, I knew I would figure it out.

Little did I know that there would be some major bumps along the road. Long story short, after biting off more than I could chew, I quit blogging in 2022.

Then after realizing how much a valued a creative outlet and community of loyal readers (even if there weren’t that many) I re-launched my blog in 2023.

Then in 2024, even though I didn’t quit blogging, with my busy school schedule, I put blogging on the back burner. Which looking back, I really wish I didn’t! But once again, I learned an important lesson and realized just how much I loved blogging!

Fast forward to now, I could not be more happy with the blog and business I have created. And every single day I look forward to working on my blog and creating something special that I can be proud of.

A PEAK INTO MY LIFE…

  1. I live in Southern California with my friends, family, and my golden doodle Phoebe (she’s the model in the picture ;)) And no, we did not name her after Phoebe from Friends, but she is just as goofy!
  2. In my free time I love to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen (trying to keep my childhood dream of being a chef alive haha) or sitting on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea (I’m a matcha girl at heart).
  3. My happy place has always been, and I think always will be, the beach. When I’m at the beach, I feel the most at peace, like nothing else matters. My dream is to live by the beach one day!
  4. As much as I love being in the comfort of my own home, one of my favorite things to do is travel! NYC and London are my favorite places I’ve been. Oddly enough, I love the energy of big cities and have always wondered if I could live in one. But for now, I think I’ll stick to Southern California.
  5. I’m a total Type-C girl! I love nothing more than to have a perfectly organized space. However, I also suffer from keeping all areas of my life as beautiful and organized as my home. There’s always a million ideas and thoughts running through my mind. I guess you could say I’m a more laid-back over-thinker.

Yes, I was born and raised in Southern California and I can’t imagine my life anywhere else!

A mix of school, cleaning, and creating! I’m still in college, so finding a balance has been something I’ve had to learn (and still are!). Honestly my motivation for getting through my school work and studies is being able to blog.

“Practical, but make it pretty.” It’s the BMG way.

The kitchen! No coincidence that it is also one of my favorited places in the house. It’s the perfect combination of a creative space that I can make into every Type-A girl’s dream.

Labels! I use them all over my house – they’re like my sidekick – and the secret to a good before and after.

I actually love a good DIY project — even though I claim I’m “not crafty.” It’s all about functional creativity for me!
