Early mornings can be quite a struggle, especially if you are not one of the lucky ones that can call yourself a “morning person”. Either way, most of us probably already have a routine in place or a couple of regular habits for the morning.
But what if I told you that you could improve each day by starting it off with these simple yet effective habits? These 10-morning habits will not only provide a healthy and productive start to your day, but they will help you transform your life for the better.
So without further ado, let’s get into this post on 10 easy-to-implement morning habits for success.
Don’t Hit Snooze
The first thing you can do to start your morning off on the right foot is to not hit snooze. By hitting snooze you are not only delaying an earlier start to your morning, but you will probably end up feeling groggy once you do decide to get up.
The best way you can make sure that you don’t even want to hit the snooze button is to give yourself enough time to sleep. This is different for everybody. Some people (like myself) need at least 8 and a half hours of sleep to feel rested, others might only need 7 hours.
Another thing you can do to help prevent this is to place your phone or whatever you use for an alarm away from your bed. That way, in order to turn your alarm off in the morning, you will have to get out of bed.
Stretch/Yoga/Exercise
Whether it is stretching, doing yoga, or exercising, doing some sort of physical activity in the morning, whether it is a small or large amount, is extremely beneficial.
Early physical activity will help you start the day with more energy, focus, and optimism. Plus, physical activity earlier on in your morning routine will make you feel accomplished from the start.
While going for a run or heading to the gym is a great way to start off your morning, I like to keep things a little more lowkey. So, I will usually find a 15-minute restorative yoga video on YouTube that I can follow along with.
Meditate
Having the right mindset going into your day is crucial if you want to achieve success. Meditating is a great way to make sure you are starting the day with a positive outlook on life.
Meditating will help you relieve stress, increase self-awareness, and so much more. So set aside 10-15 minutes every morning to meditate, it will make you a happier and healthier pe
Journal
Journaling is an amazing habit that I highly suggest you try out. With all of the thoughts, worries, and concerns floating around in your head, journaling will help to clear your head. Which, not only feels good but will help you to work better throughout the day.
Along with all my worries and countless thoughts, I like to journal about what I dreamed the past night. I have noticed sometimes what I dream about affects my attitude and state of mind the next day.
Drink Water
I cannot stress the importance of drinking water right after you wake up. Drinking water will help your body flush out any toxins and help you feel more awake, not to mention it will rehydrate your body after a long 7-10 hours of sleep.
When you don’t properly hydrate in the morning, your body runs on less fuel, which can make you feel more tired and drained throughout the day. I have definitely noticed a change in energy on days that I drink water right after I wake up versus days I don’t.
Let the Sunlight In
Opening your blinds or curtains to let in the natural morning light is great for waking yourself up. Once you let some sunlight in, it will be easier to start your day.
And, I think the natural light always makes me a little happier, so maybe it will do the same for you too. 😉
Eat a Nutritious Breakfast
My favorite part of the morning is eating breakfast. If you’re like me, breakfast is (sometimes) the only way to get yourself out of bed. I know this one is basic, but it’s super important.
A nutritious breakfast is what will give you the energy to go on with your day, and it doesn’t have to be some extravagant meal. Some greek yogurt with berries and hempseed granola is one of my all-time favorites!
Write 3 Things That You Are Grateful for
Practicing gratitude is super important, as it will help you acknowledge all of the blessings you have in your life and what you have to be thankful for.
It’s really easy to want more and think that you don’t have enough, in fact, it used to happen to me a lot. But this simple habit helped to keep me grounded and reminded me of all the things that make my life special. Definitely one of my favorites!
Make Your Bed
Making my bed in the morning puts me in the mood to get stuff done. While it’s a small task, it is one that makes me feel accomplished.
Trust me, making your bed is a must! Not only will it make your room feel so much cleaner, but it will make it so that you can’t crawl back in bed, which I am sure we have all been tempted to do at one time or another.
Listen to Something Motivational
Whether it’s a podcast or music, listening to something motivational is a great way to start your day off on the right foot. Personally, I love listening to some upbeat music. This helps me start the day with a positive attitude and mindset.
For those of us who prefer to listen to something more informative, there are hundreds of incredible podcasts to choose from. So, I think it’s safe to say, there is a podcast out there for everyone.
Go Into Your Day With Purpose
Implementing these simple healthy morning habits into your morning routine will definitely make a difference. But, in order to be productive throughout the entire day, you need to be purposeful with everything you do.
If you don’t already, I highly suggest creating to-do lists. It’s one of my favorite ways to stay on task and make sure I’m getting things done.
And, if you haven’t already, I highly suggest investing in a planner. I use this one and I absolutely love it. Not only does it have ambitious space, but the design is so cute, and honestly probably my favorite part!
